Neil rested on his bed, tossing a football into the air and catching it. He graduated a few months ago and summer was coming to a close. His dad was forcing him to pick a college to go to, so he would get out of the house and make something of himself.
His father's dream was for Neil to be professional football player and he felt the best chances of that were from attending a college on scholarship. Neil had been scouted a few times at the games, but he never game them a clear answer on if he wanted to be a part of their team or school.
Even though he graduated pretty high in his class, Neil didn't want to go to another school. Hated the classes and never liked the teachers really.
Well... there was a few of the young lady teachers he liked.
Neil smirked to himself as he caught the football. Sitting up, he tossed the ball into a bin before taking off his shirt.
The one teacher he'll miss the most was Mrs. Jennings. Her slender body and luscious breasts were always the best thing about after school 'tutoring'.
The other teachers weren't going to be missed.
Though he would miss having the nerds do his homework when he didn't feel like it.
That was something he hated doing, homework. He knew it all from just hearing the teacher talk, why did he have to do the extra paper work?
What was funny was that Neil always passed the tests, without cheating. It was all too simple and boring.
And his father wanted him to go through that again? Sure, Neil liked high school, when he wasn't doing the actual 'school' part. The cheerleaders, the football games. Star football player and he was king of that school.
Would he even get that in college? That was a whole new ballpark.
He wasn't stupid, he knew college wouldn't be the same as high school.
A knock on the door interrupted his thoughts.
“Come on, Neil, we'll be late.” The sound of his father's voice made Neil roll his eyes.
“Not going, dad, told you that before.”
Without warning, his father barged into the room. He was smaller than Neil, but still had an intimidating look.
“And I told you that you're going! This is an important party and the scouts from the games will be there and you can finally give your damn answer to them!” the elder man bellowed.
Neil crossed his arms over his chest, not looking the least bit intimidated. “I don't have an answer to give. Why does it even matter anymore? College is obsolete now,” he stated, moving past his father to the bathroom.
“You disrespectful- I knew I should have disciplined you more as a child!”
Neil froze before slowly turning back to his so-called 'father'. “Because beating me as a kid wasn't enough?” His expression was one of pure hate and anger.
“I did that for your own good! You would have been a damn momma's boy if I hadn't!”
“Is that why you beat mom?” Neil spat back.
Why was he even still here? He hated the man before him, why did he stay?
“Chris, Neil, please, don't fight...” The men turned to see fair haired woman come out from the bedroom.
Neil's heart sank. He stayed for her, which was the real reason he didn't plan to leave for college any time soon.
“I'll stop fighting if he puts his damn suit on so we can go.” Chris glared at his son, but Neil ignored the look.
Neil's mother smiled softly at him. “Neil, dear, please get dressed. It would make the night easier on us.”
Neil stared at her for a moment, before sighing. “Fine, give me five minutes.”
“Hmph, I had it under control, Teresa, but good girl.” Neil heard his father say to his mother as he closed his bedroom door.
Neil sighed in frustration as he leaned against his door. Why hasn't a car or something hit the man yet? Get more money from him if we got the damn insurance policy he has... He thought, before looking up at his room.
The first thing that caught his eye was the envelope that was on his bed. “The hell? You weren't there before...” he muttered to himself, before going to investigate.
Picking up the envelope, he sat on his bed as he ripped it open. He didn't even bother to read who it was from on the envelope itself.
As he read the letter, he figured out it was some sort of college acceptance letter. I haven't even applied anywhere, why is this... His thought trailed off as the words on the page started to glow.
Flashes of memories entered his mind. Powers and glory, those who worshiped him, a beautiful, but jealous, wife.
Once his memories fully returned, Neil crushed the letter in his hand. Standing up, he left the room with vengeance in his eyes.
Chris Gordon looked up from watching the television to see his son walking into the living room, still not ready to go. “The hell do you think you're doing? Go back and get dresse-Argh!” When he had stood up, Neil grabbed him by the throat.
“I am Zeus, ruler of Mount Olympus, and I am done playing,” Zeus stated, pinning the mortal man against the wall.
“Y-you're cr-crazy!” Chris managed to get out, before suddenly stabbing Zeus in the side.
Zeus dropped him in response, cursing at the pain and the blood coming out. He heard a scream and looked up to see Chris holding his mortal mother around the shoulders, his knife pressed against her neck.
“You want her to live? Get the hell out of my house!”
“N-Neil...” Teresa whimpered, flinching when Chris yelled at her to shut up.
Zeus felt the rage go through him at the sight of his mortal mother in danger. Without hesitating, he dashed to them and punch Chris before he could do anything to Teresa in response. Teresa was free from her husband's grasp and backed away as her son and husband began to duke it out.
Chris punched the wound he left in Zeus' side, causing the bigger, younger man to cripple. Before Zeus could react, Chris was above him, ready to stab him.
So much for the contest... He suddenly thought, only to hear a shot rang out.
Chris fell to the ground limp, causing Zeus to look up to see his mother holding a handgun at her husband's body.
“I-I won't let you... kill my baby...” Tears fell from her eyes as her voice shook.
Zeus slowly stood up and moved to his mortal mother. “Thank you... Mother...”
Teresa looked at him before she broke down crying. She dropped the gun and held her son. “I'm s-so-”
“Shh... it's over...” Zeus held her tight. “He can't hurt us anymore...”
Zeus decided he would make sure she was taken care of while he was at college. It was explained to the police that Chris Gordon had suddenly lashed out at Zeus/Neil for not wanting to go to the party that night. It was reported he had been abusing them for years, but Teresa had been afraid for Neil if it was ever reported...
Now, she didn't have to worry anymore...
